The Coach's Corner

Head Coach Rayvan Teague

Hey Trojan Fans,

I cannot tell you how proud I am of our players and coaches.  To be here in the third round is an amazing accomplishment.  I think this Trojan team has surprised me more than any other I have coached at Carrollton.   Our guys play with great heart and passion for the game.  They have remained focused and committed through a very difficult season.  We have overcome inexperience, injuries, and criticism to the tune of an 11-1 record and a region 6AAA championship.  This Friday night we will once again see the odds stacked against us.  Carver, in my opinion, will bring to Grisham the best and most athletic team we have faced since I arrived here six years ago.  This Carver team is at least twice as good as last year's version.   I don't think any team in the state of Georgia can match them on paper.  Fortunately for us the game is not played on paper.  For our Trojans to prevail we will need great execution and a never say die attitude.

This year when you think of Carver football you think of great play makers on offense.  Carver has two young men on offense that I truly expect to watch play on Sundays in the future.  Their quarterback -#17 and their wide-out- #1 are as good as advertised.  These guys are great players with game changing abilities.   The Carver offense also returns great experience and size on the offensive line.  The addition of several really good running backs makes their offense quite a challenge to stop.  The Tigers are averaging over 42 points a game and have basically been able to coast in the second half of every game except one.

The Tiger defensive unit is young but very talented.  Carver has great size on the defensive front and linebackers that really fly around to the football.  Even though Carver has a tremendous defensive front, I would say their secondary is the team's defensive strength.  The Tigers return two of the four starters back from last year and have managed to pick up an all state player from Cairo in the off season.  Teams have found throwing the ball against the Tigers almost impossible.  Most games have gotten out of control early because of picks run back for touchdowns.   Our offensive unit will need extreme execution to move the ball consistently against these Tigers.

This Friday night should be exciting.  We love our Trojan faithful and appreciate their never ending support both on and off the field.  So many people come together to make Carrollton a truly special place to be.  My hope is that this Friday night our community once again comes out in total support to help our young men meet this extreme challenge.  Our desire as a team is to represent Carrollton High School to the best of our abilities and with great character.  Best of luck to our friends from Columbus and Go Trojans!
